If you’re feeling burned out at work you may be surprised to see just how common this is.
Deloitte’s Annual Gen-Z and Millennial Survey has got the details.
It was published a few weeks ago…
And the content makes super interesting reading.
Let me pull out a couple of stats…
First, 45% of gen-z and millennials agree with the statement “I feel burned out due to the intensity of my workload”.
This astonished me.
I know a lot of millennials work long hours…
And I know jobs can be stressful…
But “burned out” goes much further than this.
It doesn’t just mean stressed or exhausted.
It means you’re completely demotivated…
Emotionally and physically drained…
And almost beyond caring.
To think that nearly half of all millennials feel this way is shocking.
Something has gone very badly wrong.
Now, is this situation sustainable?
I really don’t think it is.
And more and more millennials are catching on.
Because the report also says 32% of millennials would leave their job without another job lined up.
I completely get it…
Because I did similar. I quit my job to start a business.
It wasn’t an overnight decision…
I agonised for months. And I had to work through many things first.
Like what it was I really wanted from my life…
My limiting beliefs about work…
And how to take control of my fears.
It wasn’t easy.
But eventually I became clear that quitting my job was the right thing to do.
And I quit with confidence and peace of mind.
As the survey shows, a lot of people are thinking about changing direction…
You might be thinking about this too.
