London cabbies may be some of the wisest people in the country...
Especially when it comes to politics, the weather or how to get from Brick Lane to Wholefoods in less than 30 mins.
And sometimes they share wisdom without even realising it.
Case in point…
I was in a black cab yesterday and got chatting to the driver.
When we’d finished talking about the cricket, I asked him how business was.
And his answer wasn’t a surprise.
It sounds like things are challenging right now…
Covid, Uber and the cost of living crisis are all having a massive impact…
And fares are hard to come by.
Then he said something which stuck with me:
“But I’ve been doing this for 30 years. So I can’t really do anything else”.
This got me thinking.
This statement may or may not be true…
But it made me realise the value of being able to follow your own path.
You might want to keep working in the same job for the next few years…
Switch jobs soon…
Or strike out on your own at some point.
But whatever your plan…
I'm sure you'd agree that you want to be in the driving seat...
Rather than have decisions made for you or taken out of your hands.
Now, I realise that luck definitely plays a part…
Because not everyone is fortunate enough to be able to choose their own path.
But I also think a lot of people can choose their path and they don’t realise it.
We usually have more options available than we think...
There are sometimes opportunities we haven’t spotted…
And it can also be possible to create your own luck.
Now, I know what you're thinking...
How do we uncover hidden options, make our own luck and design our own path?
Well, speaking to someone is one of the best ways.
Whether it's getting a new perspective...
Setting goals...
Or achieving these goals.
Speaking to someone can help with all of these.
So if you feel like some support could be useful, feel free to book a call with me here.
And we can talk through your options and how I could help.
That's it for today.
Enjoy your Wednesday.
