You probably know the score.
Once upon a time there was a girl named Goldilocks who stumbled upon a rickety old house in a
spooky forest far, far away.
The house had a leaky roof, crumbling walls and the front door was hanging from its hinges.
(a project for Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen if ever there was one)
Anyway, Goldie was a bit of a snooper. So she decided to check it out.
And as she strolled into the kitchen, she saw three bowls of steaming, freshly cooked porridge on the table.
The first was made with Oat So Simple. Goldie detested instant porridge.
The second had been made with soy milk, which left a funny taste in her mouth.
But the third was oozing with maple syrup and blueberries and cinnamon, and it was delicious. And Goldie slurped it down.
Next, she sat on a La-Z-Boy emblazoned with the words “Big Daddy”. But the chair was too big and she couldn’t get comfortable.
Next, she tried Baby Bear’s plastic chair,
but it was too small. She couldn’t squeeze between the arms.
But Mama Bear’s rocking chair was just right. It had a plush velvet cushion and the back and forth motion was soothing.
And suddenly a wave of tiredness overcome Goldilocks. So she climbed the stairs to the bedroom.
Papa Bear’s bed was too hard and unwelcoming.
Mama Bear’s bed was too soft and had a funny smell.
But Baby Bear’s bed was just right. It was cosy, warm and welcoming. Goldie crawled under the covers and fell asleep.
Moral of the story?
Well, I can think of a few.
But
here’s my favourite…
Just because something is a perfect fit for one person doesn’t mean it’s a perfect fit for someone else.
But more to the point…
(and this is key)
…there are things out there that are the perfect fit for all of us.
The so-called Goldilocks Zone.
They might require some patience and experimentation to find.
But they’re there. Don’t kid yourself they’re not.
That’s all for today.
