Yesterday I shed light on one of the breakthroughs that led to me quitting my job.
Today I’m going to share the other breakthrough with you.
It unfolded during an exercise called The Dickens Process. I came across this exercise during a virtual 4-day event with Tony Robbins in the midst of Covid.
And I’ve honestly never experienced anything like
it.
I was one of thousands of people doing this exercise while Big Tony orchestrated the whole thing.
Once it was over, I looked round.
All I could see were people sobbing uncontrollably. A few were howling like wolves, strange as that sounds.
I could feel tears streaming down my face too. I couldn’t hold them back. The muscles around my eyes were aching and my chest was pounding.
The exercise was intense, painful and raw. It brought up
stuff which would’ve been easier to keep buried.
But I also felt optimism, hope and relief. A sense of a future which was so alluring, fulfilling and authentic that it became extremely difficult to ignore.
I have to say that out of all the exercises, frameworks and assessments I’ve tried…
(and trust me - I’ve tried a lot)
…The Dickens Process steals the show.
But there’s a catch.
See, the Dickens Process isn’t something that can be filled
out on a piece of paper like yesterday’s Fear Setting Exercise.
It’s not a process that can be explained in the same way either.
Explaining it would be a bit like
trying to describe going to a gig. Whatever I say about the energy, emotion and experience of the gig would only scratch the surface.
You could even say it would take the magic out of it.
And that’s not what I want to do.
And sure. If you Google “The Dickens Process”, you’ll find an explanation of the process and why it works.
But this misses the point.
What you won’t get is the power behind it.
And that’s because you
won’t be doing the process. You won't be feeling the changes you’re considering and feeling the cost of not making them.
Which is why I’m not going to go into the details.
But make no mistake about it. It worked.
It showed me that if you have an inkling that you might not be on the right path…
Or there’s a change you want to make but it seems too big, too risky or too daunting…
There ARE ways to shift your thoughts and feelings, give you more clarity on your next step
and get you moving (if that’s what you want to do).
And you know what?
I was never really sure that this was possible.
And I think that’s why The Dickens Process was such a big breakthrough for me.
