A big factor in my decision to quit my job was this:
Taking a good, hard, honest look not just at all the things my job had
given me (of which there were plenty, no doubt)…
But also scrutinising the things I’d lost out on because of my job. And would lose out on in the future.
What I called the “opportunity cost” of my job.
The list I came up with was longer than an acceptance speech at the Oscars.
It included losses like my sleep, health and happiness.
But also losses like the chance to fulfil my potential, use my real talents and live an authentic life.
Less tangible losses for sure, but arguably more important. I felt these losses frequently. And these feelings grew stronger every day.
Was quitting my job to pursue these an extreme step?
You betcha.
And there are ways to improve sleep, health or happiness – or even ways to live more authentically - without making big, bold life changes.
In fact there’s one very simple
way: my Time Conqueror Challenge.
I’ve harped on about the challenge this week. But with good reason.
Time management is an easy lever to pull if you want more fulfilment and happiness without taking a big, dramatic step (like quitting your job).
Simply put: if you get better at managing your time, you can turn opportunity costs into opportunities.
Opportunities to use your newly freed
up time to curl up in bed for a long, deep, blissful sleep.
Opportunities to treat yourself to a hot stone massage and manicure.
Opportunities to start a side hustle, train for an Ironman or visit that art exhibition you've had your eye on.
And opportunities to do anything else you’d like
to do. The choice is yours.

I’m only making Time Conqueror available to people who are
signed up to my emails.
