One of my “go to”
karaoke tunes?
(especially when duetting with Lauren)
“Rockstar”, by Nickelback.
If you don't know this
musical masterpiece by heart, here are the first few lines:
I'm through with standing in line to clubs I'll never get in
It's like the bottom of the ninth, and I'm never gonna win
This life hasn't turned out quite the way I want it to be
(Tell me what you want)
I want a brand new house on an episode of Cribs
And a bathroom I can play baseball in
And a king-size tub, big enough for ten plus me
(Uh, so what you
need?)
I'll need a credit card that's got no limit
And a big black jet with a bedroom in it
Gonna join the mile high cl…
Er…anyway,
we’ll leave it there.
Obviously Nickelback's wish list isn't for everyone. I'm guessing you probably don't want a bathroom you can play baseball in.
But you might want to pay attention to these Rockstar lyrics:
Tell me what you want
And:
Uh, so what you need?
There’s a lot of wisdom in those ten words.
These lyrics are, in a nutshell, a simple two-step process for living the kind of life you want to live.
So maybe it’s worth asking:
What do you want?
A new job? More moolah in your coffers? A happier, more peaceful life? More clarity about the direction you're
heading?
Or even a brand new house on an episode of Cribs?
There’s no right or wrong answers here, just the answers that are right for you. But without knowing what you want, it’s nigh on impossible to get hold of it.
As the old Zen saying goes: to hit a target, you must see it first.
Once you know what you want, it’s on to the next step.
What do you need in order to get what you want?
Do you need a small, encouraging “push”? To procrastinate less? More confidence or clarity?
A plan? A mentor?
Maybe even a coach?
If you do, and you'd like a helping hand, you’re in the right place.
