Some trivia which might come in handy next time you’re at your local pub quiz:
The smell of a crayola crayon is so familiar, it’s one of the world’s 20 most recognisable
smells.
It’s up there with the more traditional “smell leaderboard” of peanut butter, cigarettes and Vicks VapoRub.
(throw some crayons into the mix with those three and you’ve got one of hell of a party)
Some related trivia which might be even handier?
Apparently the smell of crayola crayons is so soothing that sniffing crayons has been shown to lower blood pressure!
Worth keeping this tidbit in your back pocket if you’re feeling a little stressed and your meditation, yoga or breathing exercises aren't working.
I’m not even joking.
I couldn’t give two hoots if your route to less stress is through yoga, meditation, going for a walk, sinking into a soothing bubble bath or crayon aromatherapy.
What I do care about are the storytellers who claim there’s a single cure for stress. And who then tell you that breathwork, meditation or bubble baths is that
cure.
People get into trouble this way.
Because inevitably there will be those for whom this magic pill doesn’t work. And when friends, parents or colleagues tell them “that’s odd” or “you’re not doing it
right” or even “there must be something wrong with you”, things can go from bad to worse.
Forget about all this poppycock.
The way to cure your stress is by finding the way that works for you. Not the way that works
for your partner, your friend or your hairdresser.
So if you’d like to shake off your stress but nothing seems to work, I promise you’re not doomed to be stressed forever.
I also promise there’s nothing wrong with
you.
You simply haven’t found the right stress remedy for you yet.
Enter my coaching.
My coaching won’t help you put in place a stress-busting action plan. It also won’t hold you accountable to this plan by pushing your willpower, discipline & determination to the max when a system which has worked for someone else inevitably doesn’t work for you.
If you ask me, that sounds like a sure-fire way to find
even more stress and tension.
My coaching takes place a couple of steps before action plans and willpower.
We’ll delve into the nature of stress, where stress comes from and what stress means to you.
It’s seeing deeper into truths like these that prompt shifts in actions which are tailor-made for you, not for someone else.
