In 1582, Europe found itself in a spot of bother when it switched from the Julian calendar to the Gregorian calendar.
That spot of bother?
Well, it all had to do with something called
“Realigning the Equinoxes" and making sure the days where night & day were equal length fell at the same time each year.
The decision around what to do fell on the unfortunate lap of Pope Gregory XIII.
In order
to “realign the equinox”, His Popeship decided that October 4th 1582 would be followed by October 15th 1582.
That’s right.
The Pope skipped Europe 11 days into the future and much havoc &
mayhem ensued when the plebs had a meltdown about “losing” 10 days of their life.
As it happens, this isn’t a one off.
When Europe made the switch to Gregorian, Russia kept their Julian calendar for another 300
years.
Which means that, according to the Gregorian calendar, the Russian October Revolution actually took place in November.
Who would’ve thought it!
Anyway, this does make me wonder:
Is October the new November?
And does this mean May is the new June?
Whatever the case, one thing is clear:
Anyone who waits for a certain day might find that day never comes.
The
obituaries in today’s Guardian, Daily Telegraph & The Times will be full of people who went after what they wanted and lived a full & happy life.
And, sadly, they’ll also be full of people who decided they had quite a lot on at the moment to start living a life they really loved. Or who decided that now was a bit soon to start making their
dreams come true.
So these people decided to wait for the right moment instead.
Moments like their children leaving home in 10 years, moving house next year, or simply waiting another month for October to become November
or May to become June.
And they kept kicking the can down the road until one day they looked back over their shoulder and saw that every moment would’ve been the perfect moment to start that side hustle, pursue that passion or take the first step with whatever it was their heart was calling out for them to do.
Moral of the story?
The perfect moment really is now.
And if you have dreams & ambitions for your life and
you’re ready to get going, you might like to consider coaching.
Am I suggesting that coaching is akin to gently rubbing a genie’s shiny & polished lamp and watching your dreams come true in front of your eyes?
Well, I
make no guarantees.
But it’s my experience and contention that coaching is a trusty way to get clear on what you want and a tried & tested route for bringing what you want to life.
First step?
Hit reply to this email with the word “interested”.
I’ll reply with a few questions, and if you have any questions for me, I’ll answer them.
If I think I can help you, I’ll suggest a one hour Zoom call to talk more about what you’re looking for and how we could work together.
This call is free, with no obligation to have any more sessions. Even if this is our only call, I expect you'll come away from that call with a
renewed sense of clarity and direction.
If, after this call, you’d like to proceed with coaching, I’ll offer you a package of three 1 hour sessions for the all-in price of £500.
As I said at the top of the email, I only
have one slot available. And once it’s gone, it’s gone.
So if you’re interested, intrigued or curious to find out more, now’s not the time to dilly dally.
If you have questions or if you’re ready to jump in, hit
reply with the word “interested” and we’ll go from there.
That’s all for today.
