How can I be so sure?
Because you’ve been making decisions since the day you were born without so much as a second thought.
When you were knee-high to a grasshopper, deciding which toy to play
with or which book to read came so instinctively that it probably didn’t even feel like a decision.
You certainly didn’t need to talk all your options through with every Jack and Jill or spend hours Googling or reading online articles to know the right thing to do.
You just knew.
And if you’re wrestling with a decision right now, my claim is this:
You’re overthinking it.
Even if you don’t think you know what to do, you do. That same instinct which guided you when you were a child is 100% present and active right now, as you read this very email. And the only thing getting in the way of this instinct is your thinking.
“But Tom!” I hear you cry…
“The decisions I need to make as an adult are important. There are big consequences to changing career or ending my relationship. This isn’t like choosing whether to have sushi or a burrito for lunch. I need to think about it!”.
I get it.
But if you feel like you’ve become a living, breathing rocking horse and all your analysing & deliberating has created the illusion of moving forward but you’re actually just standing still, then perhaps it’s time to take a
different approach.
Perhaps it’s time to start building some of your other decision making-muscles.
And perhaps it’s time to start thinking less, not more.
I delved into overthinking in last month’s webinar, Mind over Matter.
If you joined this Zoom jamboree last month, you might find it acts as a handy springboard into this month’s webinar, Decisions on Demand.
But if you missed last month’s webinar, fear not.
You don’t need to have attended MoM to get the most from DoD.
The ideas, concepts
and principles I’ll be sharing in Decisions on Demand all stand on their own two feet.
And I’m excited to share these.
Understanding more about what decisions are and how to make them is firmly in the top 3 reasons
why, after years of feeling stuck, I can honestly say life is flowing and unfolding with an ease I don’t think it ever has before.
In Decisions on Demand, I’ll be sharing everything I’ve learnt and seen for myself about knowing whether to turn left or right at a crossroads instead of standing still and peering down each road for months or years on
end.
Decisions on Demand will take place on Zoom on Wednesday 19th June at 10am PST/1pm EST/6pm UK Time.
I reckon the webinar will last about an hour. And it's free.
If you’d like to join, hit reply and I’ll send the Zoom details straight over.
And if you’ve got any questions, feel free to hit reply too.
That’s all for today.
