One of my biggest insights over the last couple of years?
Seeing just how much the universe has my back and, in turn, just how little I need to have everything figured out myself.
This is
something the American author Rob Brezsny pondered in his book Pronoia is the Antitode for Paranoia.
To my knowledge, very few people talk about this concept of pronoia.
Certainly not the Dimstagram
Dimfluencers slurping their buddha bowls in Bali and not even the mainstream gurus, gods & goddesses lining the shelves of the self-help section in your local W.H. Smith’s.
Yet pronoia is worth a look.
Sure, pronoia might sound rather New Age for some people's tastes.
But it doesn't have to be.
Pronoia simply means:
*** Believing the universe is on your side
*** Which ups the chances of you spotting & seizing opportunities
*** Which ups the chances of
your own positive mindset
*** Which also ups the chances of inspiring those around you
*** Which ups the chances of attracting more positive experiences & people into your life
*** Which ups the chances of this virtuous circle repeating itself and getting stronger & more tangible every time it does
It also means:
*** Less impact from setbacks (even though they’ll still happen)
*** Less dwelling on negative thoughts
*** Less chance of fear being in the driving seat
*** Less likely to be knocked by criticism
*** Less getting into a dither about things
And the list goes
on.
As for how to snag some of this pronoia secret spice?
That could be a webinar or workshop in & of itself.
I will say this though:
I believe the more anyone sees pronoia actually working in the real world, in real time, the more they cannot help but “take on” some of this pronoia themselves.
This is why those whose glass of chocolate milk is always half full rather than half empty and who are generally happy-go-lucky tend to mingle with others just like them.
Even reading about these topics can light a small spark, just like Brezsny’s book has rubbed off on me and sparked this email.
My two pennies' worth for today.
On a not entirely unrelated note:
Issue 16 of Robert Wringham’s
print-journal New Escapologist is hot off the press.
Which means my latest New Escapologist column is hot off the press too.
In Robert's own words:
In New Escapologist we celebrate the "flight" part of "fight or flight".
We don't think it's shameful to want enough time in life to read library books, laze around, throw parties, go for walks, pursue our creative projects or (heaven forbid) better ourselves.
We refute the notion that being a successful worker-consumer is the height of it all.
It’s the perfect read if these are the sorts of topics you’d like to rub off on you.
