Have you heard of the app Splitwise?
It’s a handy way of keeping track of expenses with friends.
I was using the app yesterday, settling a few cocktail-related IOUs with Lauren from our recent
trip to Greece (thank you Lauren!) when an ad popped up, offering me the chance to upgrade my Splitwise subscription to something called Splitwise Pro.
Well fancy that!
As I tried to exit the ad, it dawned on
me:
These ads are just like thoughts.
They both pop up all the time.
But just
because an ad pops up doesn’t mean we need to click it, then spend the next few minutes getting sucked down an internet pop-up rabbit-hole. We don’t even need to read ads as they pop up, still less take them seriously.
I mean – you can click a pop-up ad if you want to.
But if you don’t, you can just ignore it or close it down.
And our thoughts work the exact same way.
We don’t need to follow any thought, let alone buy into
whatever that thought is selling or infer there’s anything significant about the fact a thought has popped up.
The more I’ve seen the truth of this, the easier it’s been to let thoughts go, the less I’m living life in my head and the greater my peace of mind.
Truth be told, the self-improvement game is a funny old business.
For 20+ years of my life, I devoured books & articles on how to set goals, become more disciplined, find more willpower and achieve more success.
All I wanted was to get out of my head and live a happier life. I didn't think that was too much to ask and I really believed these strategies & habits were the keys to doing that.
But that’s changed in the last couple of years.
I realise now, as clear as crystal, that it’s not the content of our thoughts which matters when it comes to finding more peace of mind.
Instead, it’s seeing what thoughts are and how they work.
Once you see this, the content of your thoughts becomes small potatoes.
I don’t know if that sounds like a wacky statement or not.
But I do know
this:
Now that I’ve found the solution to more peace of mind and bottled it into my coaching, I’m on a mission to shield people from the hours, headache and hassle that I went through trying to get out of my head and live a calmer, clearer and happier life.
This is why I’m making a new offer this week:
90 minute Peace of Mind Laser Coaching Sessions
This offer runs until 7pm GMT on Friday.
If you’d like to turn the volume down on your mental chatter, spend less time in your head and find more peace of mind in the here and now, this offer is made for you.
The price is £200 for a 90 minute session with me.
After the 90 minute session, if you feel like you haven’t connected with a deeper sense of mental calm and peace of mind, I’ll give you a second session for free.
Can't say fairer than that.
If you’re interested or you’d like to find out more, reply to this email with “Peace of Mind” and we’ll take it from there.
That’s all for today.
