Last week I hosted a work/life balance webinar at work.
During the webinar I nattered away about my experience of burnout, how I came through it and what I’ve learnt about stress & work/life balance.
I ran a couple of exercises too.
And I also shared a few ideas from the Inside-Out Understanding which underpins all my coaching, webinars, workshops and even these merry emails.
It was a
fun webinar and hopefully useful for a few folk.
But I had a sneaky ulterior motive for the webinar.
See, I’m revving up to re-run my 10 week Mindset & Clarity workshops.
(that’s right - we’re taking these workshops for another spin baby!)
These were the workshops I ran earlier this year for my very own department at work. And now another department has come knocking, asking if I’ll run the same workshops for
them.
When I promoted the workshops first time round, I pinged out an email. But this time I wanted to give colleagues a taste of what to expect.
A little something to nibble on, if you will. A preview of
coming attractions.
Hence the webinar.
And it seemed to do the trick.
Of the 60 odd
people on the webinar, 19 signed up for the 10 week Mindset & Clarity workshops then & there.
That’s a big win in my book.
And it’s reminded me of something I’ve known for a while but sometimes
forget:
The best way to grasp what something is like is to experience it directly.
The work/life balance webinar I ran last week is the perfect example.
The way I broached the topic, the nature of the exercises, the energy on the call, the flow of ideas, the space for reflection and the potential for insights gave a much richer, deeper, truer feel of what the Mindset & Clarity Workshops will be like vs sending out an email.
And I
think that’s why 19 people signed up.
Funnily enough, this is also why I LOVE going to food fairs. The stall-holders live by the same philosophy. So there are always free samples and it’s rare I’ll leave a food fair without having nibbled a few cubes of cheddar, sampled a vegan chocolate brownie, slurped on a rhubarb kombucha and tried all
sorts of wacky flavoured chilli oils.
i.e. it’s not reading pretty words about a vegan chocolate brownie which gives a sense of what it tastes like.
It’s by tasting it.
And I don’t care if it’s nibbling chocolate brownies, test driving a car, trying on new clothes, checking out a new neighbourhood or anything else similar. For as long as you research, weigh up the options, make a pros & cons list, ask other people, ponder it deeply and consider all the what-ifs, it won’t compare to the feel you’ll get by just trying it.
This is precisely why I’m offering free 30 minute taster sessions for my Baby on Board coaching sale.
I want to give you a risk-free, no-obligation opportunity to experience what 1 on 1 coaching is like.
But this opportunity ends on Sunday and stragglers will be turned away with their tail between their legs.
If you’d like to take a nibble before then
That’s all for today.
