A reader who tuned in to my recent Mind over Matter and Decisions on Demand webinars drops me a line:
I can now so much more easily and clearly see how you can be doing your external job and seeing it from such a different place now, than you did before.
As ultimately, it almost (and maybe I need to journey a bit further for me to be 100% and not 98%) doesn't matter 'what we're doing' - provided it's not painful or harrowing etc - as it all now comes from a place of deep exploration, love, presence, joy and simply just showing up and seeing what unfolds.
There’s a lot of wisdom tucked away here.
And the reader’s right. It really doesn’t matter what we’re doing.
Take deadlines for instance.
Maybe you’ve noticed that when you get handed an unrealistic deadline at work, sometimes it feels exhilarating or like a motivating challenge to conquer. And other times it feels frustrating, destabilising or like you’re being set up to fail.
So what gives? Why can it feel so different?
Well, I’ll venture it’s not the deadline which is causing our experience of the deadline.
Instead, it’s our thinking, our perspective, our
attitude, our state of mind, our mental habits and our mood as & when we get handed that deadline.
We’re the ones who turn a neutral deadline into a source of inspiration or a source of exasperation.
Every
time.
I know it doesn’t always feel this way. Especially as the screws get turned.
But this is one of the reasons I’m so excited for my new group coaching programme Thrive at Work.
I won’t just be diving into the mechanics of how anyone can turn up the volume on their creativity, ease, flow and fun in the office.
But throughout Thrive at Work, I’ll be revealing in real-time what I’m seeing now I’m back in
the 9-to-5, using examples from my day-job as & when they occur and talking about exactly why specific deadlines, meetings, projects, conversations, emails, colleagues and even my overall stance on the 9-to-5 look so much lighter & less stressful to me now.
In other words:
I’ll be sharing directly from the front line of my own job.
And where participants are up for it, I’ll be asking them to do the same.
This way,
we’ll be exploring and seeing deeper into real-world workplace niggles and frustrations as & when they happen.
I don’t think there’s another programme anywhere quite like this (if there is, I haven’t seen it).
And I’m
stoked to get started.
If you’d like to check out the details about Thrive at Work, they’re all in this Google
Doc
But don’t dilly dally.
The deadline is only a couple of short days away.
That’s it for now.
