Last week, I finished my latest run of Mindset Workshops.
All in all, that’s 26 workshops I’ve led for my esteemed banking colleagues this year.
12 months ago, these Mindset Workshops weren’t
even on my radar. If someone had told me then that I’d be standing in front of groups of Associates, Directors and Managing Directors, chatting about how the mind works, how to dial back stress and how to have a fun, easy-going relationship with work, I would not have believed them.
Especially as I didn’t even have a job just over a year ago!
But I’ve had a blast running these workshops.
There’ve been a few surprising outcomes too.
For instance:
A couple of weeks ago, my boss asked me to facilitate two small group feedback sessions for our team. A kind of “pulse check” to see how colleagues were feeling.
Well, I’ve never
facilitated groups like this before.
But I have run my Mindset Workshops.
Workshops where I’ve not just created content, shared stories, taught principles and coached colleagues…
But where I’ve set the tone, created a safe space, managed the group dynamic and kept the convo moving while making sure everyone has their say.
i.e. I’ve been facilitating without realising it.
And I found I could take what I’ve learnt from my Mindset Workshops and apply it to facilitating these feedback sessions.
This showed up in very specific ways.
In one feedback session, I asked a question and all I could hear was crickets.
Nada. No-one said a word.
Before running my Mindset Workshops, I might’ve thought this was a
problem. I might’ve started panicking and blurted something out just to fill the silence.
But with the benefit of my Mindset Workshops, I knew what to do.
So I waited.
After about 20 seconds, someone piped up and that kicked off an interesting discussion.
Now, this might sound like a tiny, irrelevant moment.
But actually it’s a clear sign that running my Mindset Workshops has seeped into other corners of my job in curious & unexpected ways and added a few strings to my corporate bow, despite that never being my intention.
There’s a great line I came across a while back which captures this idea perfectly:
The best way to write a screenplay is to write an opera.
That’s pretty much it in a nutshell.
While I’m
wittering on about my Mindset Workshops:
Are you part of a team that would like to work with less stress, more flow and get better results?
Or do you run a team that would?
If so, hit reply and let’s start a conversation about how I could help your team with a virtual workshop or package of workshops.
If you’re based on the mean streets of London Town (like I am – big love to my fellow cockneys), I might even be able to run a few
workshops for your team face to face.

p.s. Here’s what a recent participant in my Mindset Workshops had to say:
Tom led 10 weeks of Mindset Workshops across a range of topics including resilience, bandwidth, over-thinking, self-improvement, gratitude, perspective and self-reflection.
Highly practical, Tom delivered these with serious professionalism and the value for me and the
participants has been transformative, improving my state of mind considerably. Crucially, Tom created a safe space where the views and perspectives of all were welcomed. I strongly recommend it.
