Disney’s remake of Snow White and the Seven Dwarves has been a blockbuster box office bellyflop.
The movie has just snagged the dubious honour of the lowest IMDb rating OF ALL TIME with a
spectacular 1.6 out of 10.
Honestly, I’m not surprised.
There’s always mischief in the mix where those pesky dwarves are concerned.
Case in point:
Every time I sit down to write a daily email, the dwarves poke their unwelcome noses in.
There’s Grumpy muttering “this email’s a waste of
time”, Dopey babbling “wait…what were you going to write again?” and Bashful murmuring “don’t hit send – they’ll judge you!”
Then there’s Sleepy yawning “you’re too tired to write”, Doc fussing “let’s fix that comma” and Sneezy snorting “that metaphor stinks”.
The dwarves can be very sneaky too.
Doc and Dopey usually work together as a crafty double act, Sleepy pops up just as I start to write and Bashful only shows up once an email’s fully written.
And even though I’m approaching the third year anniversary of this plucky daily newsletter, these meddling munchkins STILL try to muscle in each and every time.
I will say this though:
It has
got easier.
For the first few months of writing this newsletter, the dwarves were shouting loudly and I paid them constant attention.
Nowadays they’re still doing their thing, but they’re quieter. And even when they knock
at the cottage door, I don’t invite them in for tea and a slice of lemon drizzle cake.
(apart from Happy. He can stick around as long as he likes)
Odds are, I’m not the only one being hassled by a bunch of fairytale
freeloaders.
And I’m curious:
When you sit down to write (or work, or start anything meaningful)...
Which of these dwarves pipes up the most?
Hit reply and let me know. I’d be interested to hear which dwarf has been pulling the strings for you recently.
