Here’s a lovely email I got from a former coaching client in response to my email on Monday:

Hi Tom,
I hope you are well. I often think about the online sessions that we did several months ago and how helpful they were for me. I have decided to retire from
my school career of 36 years in July of 2026. You helped me to feel comfortable with staying put for the additional year that I needed before I was ready to move on. Currently, I am exploring different options for my next chapter, many that I could not imagined would be possible.
I love coming up with titles for things, so if you haven't
chosen a title for your book, the last line in your email below, "That someone can be you", in my humble opinion, sounds punchy, interesting, and it speaks to how you encourage people to find their own way through careful introspection and openness to options they didn't know could exist. I also love the fact that you asked for help with coming up with a title, but you actually wrote it on your own. To me, this reflects how you coach others to find their own way.
"That someone can be you", makes me think of the experience your coaching provided me. It conjures a bridge between idealized portraits of rare people who seem to have figured it all out, (money, fulfillment, freedom, work/life balance, understanding what work/life balance is supposed to look like, etc.) and the rest of us regular working
folks.
Just wanted to share some thoughts with you.
Happiest congratulations to you and Lauren on the birth of your first child! Such a significant milestone!

I’d be lying if I said this email didn’t bring a smile to my face.
Realising I might’ve stumbled on a future book title
brought a smile to my face too!
Other than that, I don’t have much more to add.
