Here’s the answer, according to Ernest Hemingway:
"The best way to find out if you can trust somebody is to trust them"
Perhaps that sounds overly simplistic. Especially when everyone’s
selling a system.
But when you strip it right back, it's clear the right way to do anything is by doing it the way that works.
By definition.
And you'll never know what works before action. That’s not how knowing works.
You can only know it through action.
Of course, I'm not
talking about mechanical tasks like wiring a plug or boiling an egg.
I'm talking about creativity, judgment and people.
i.e. messy, illogical HUMAN domains.
There’s no right way to choose your career, raise your kids, navigate conflict, lead a team, make a big decision or figure out whether to trust someone…
Apart from the way that works.
Which means the right way ISN’T the way that’s been carefully planned out, the way that’s worked before, the way that’s been presented as a four step process or the way the experts suggest. Nor is it the way with the least risk, the most risk, the one that makes you look most impressive (or least impressive) or the one that’s easiest to explain to your partner, child or boss.
Bottom line is this:
If you feel stuck more than you’d like and you sense there must be another way, you could be right.
You could be trying to figure
out how to swim before you get in the water.
If you’d like some help finding the way that’s right for you, whatever your situation, you might enjoy working with me.
