A reader drops me a line about the Zen-like tips I shared yesterday for not losing sleep over your inbox:

Hi Tom - Great email! I'm going to share this with my team and my boss!
Have a great week!
***
The thing I love about this?
My email yesterday was packed with tips like “emails are invitations not obligations”, “urgency doesn’t exist in the real world” and “not responding to an email is still a response”. And this plucky reader had the guts to court corporate wrath by sending that email
TO HER BOSS!!
Who, presumably, sends her a few emails every now and then.
Is it just me or is this an HR case waiting to happen?
I feel at least partly responsible for this sticky situation. And so, in the spirit of damage limitation, for the next 24 hours I’m offering my Mission: Unflappable training at a stonking 30% discount.
Mission: Unflappable is a 38 minute video I recorded a few months ago with
ex-surgeon, writer and coach Dr Giles P Croft.
It’s perfect for anyone who wants to handle their boss with more calm, ease and grace.
Like, for instance, my heroic reader who didn't just read yesterday's email but
decided to hit forward too.
I must warn you though:
The production values on this training are virtually non-existent. So if you’re looking for a slick, high-end, Hollywood-style type vid, I’d suggest giving this training
a miss.
But if you’re more interested in the content than the bells & whistles, here’s where you can pick up the
training
Use the discount code WRATH to claim your 30% discount. The code expires at 10am UK time tomorrow.
To fulfilment,
Tom
p.s. I don’t have a fancy sales page for Mission: Unflappable either.
Instead, here’s a quick peek at some of what you’ll find inside:
*** A graceful, honest sentence you can use with your partner that’s like a "get out of jail free card" to stop arguments mid-flight. Giles uses this regularly and it works because of a specific principle about state of mind [20:45]
*** The unconscious habit we all
have that turns a perfectly good day into a bad one and an easy way to stop this habit in its tracks [9:01]
*** The specific tactic a banker-friend of Giles observed HIS colleague using in a meeting that made even the loudest, most aggressive bankers shut up and listen to him. This tactic is perfect when you want to be heard but all your colleagues are
prattling on, talking over each other and fighting for airtime like seagulls over a sandwich [24.15]
*** The two hidden frameworks secretly running your career. Once you understand these, I’d be surprised if you didn’t start to become a lot less fazed by workplace chaos, even if all your colleagues are flapping around like headless chickens
[2.55]
*** A simple (almost childlike) way to instantly melt tension with people who drain you [27:00]
*** The bizarre reason Giles has “multiple wives” and the implications this has for your relationship with your boss
(strange as that might sound) [20:32]
*** The invisible ingredient that determines the quality of every relationship you have, yet which few people realise even exists. Doesn’t matter if you’re hobnobbing with a colleague at the watercooler, bickering with your partner on the sofa, shooting the shit with your mate in the pub or whispering sweet nothings to a
hot date. Once you see how this ingredient is pulling the strings, you’ll see it everywhere and your relationships will find their natural groove without you even trying. Might sound like a bold claim, but I stand by it [14.10]
*** What to do if your boss is genuinely a horrible person [10:02]
*** The insight Giles had after leaving the NHS that made him wonder if leaving was a terrible mistake (worth a listen if you’re thinking about changing your career or quitting your job) [35.50]
*** How to disagree with your boss’s boss without burning bridges and
still come away looking cool, calm and collected [23:04]
*** The obscure Three Principles book which Giles calls his “textbook for life” and the cheeky way you can get your hands on a copy, even though the book is long out of print (I’d never heard of this book, even though I could turn Fort Grundy into a Three Principles Library if I wanted to)
[36:52]
Okay, that's enough chit chat.
