The best way to kill momentum is by making a plan.
Momentum means you’re on the pitch. Making a plan means you’ve stepped off the pitch and you’re thinking about what to do when you step back on.
But “what to do” can only be found ON the pitch.
The boxing philosopher Mike Tyson once said “everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face”. And no-one gets punched in the face when they're sitting in the stands.
Of course, the Corporate Machine tells you that momentum depends on seventeen powerpoint slides, weekly committee meetings and getting the green light from Legal.
So be it.
Even
though the Corporate Machine prefers a meeting about work to the work itself, you don’t need to handle your momentum the same way.
In fact, you almost certainly shouldn’t.
Let's say you're ready for a career move. Or
you’ve started building something exciting alongside your day job. Or you’ve had a moment of absolute clarity that it's time to make a change at work.
If so, the game isn’t to think about what step you'll take next.
The game is to take it. Then take the next one and the one after that.
Yes, your thoughts will have opinions about this.
But if you’re really honest with yourself, you already know your next
step, even if your thoughts say otherwise.
If you'd like some help increasing momentum instead of sitting on your hands, I have an offer for you today.
The offer is called Onto The Pitch.
Onto The Pitch is a 45 minute 1:1 Zoom Call where we'll leave the ditherers in the stands and step onto the pitch together.
I have three slots open for an Onto The Pitch coaching session:
15th April, 7pm UK Time
16th April, 7pm UK Time
16th April, 8pm UK Time
A session costs £97.
It won't surprise you to hear that an Onto The Pitch session isn't for everyone. It's certainly not for the perfectionists whose idea of taking action is opening a spreadsheet, creating a project plan, then adding different colours and fonts and arrows to that plan
until there's a technicolour masterpiece that Picasso himself would've been proud of, only to discover that the time spent creating the plan could've been used to step onto the pitch instead.
This session is for people who actually want to DO stuff rather than think about doing stuff.
If that sounds like you, your first step is to click the link and book the session (if the link doesn't work when you click it then someone else has already booked).
As soon as that's done, I'll be in touch with the Zoom link.
To fulfilment,
Tom

questions than you book something you're not sure about
