A story from the history books:
When Einstein published his General Theory of Relativity, pandemonium ensued.
Everyone wanted a piece of the frizzy haired brainbox and not in a good
way.
So much so that reporters were knocking on Einstein’s door, writing him letters, calling him on the phone morning, noon & night and generally causing an unholy nuisance. And becoming PR man for his own discovery could’ve turned into a full time job for poor old Einstein.
So did he take a leaf out of his own time-bending theory and slow time to deal with all the media attention?
Not quite.
Instead, he asked his secretary to
field the interviews for him.
And when his secretary quibbled “But Herr Albert. I know diddly squat about relativity. How can I answer all these questions?”, Einstein replied “Sit with a pretty girl for an hour and it feels like a minute. Sit on a hot stove for a minute and it feels like many hours. That's relativity”.
I have my own version of this at work.
It goes something like “get an hour’s deadline from my boss and it feels like I have 90 seconds. Put me in a steering committee for an hour and it feels like a day and a half”.
This isn’t even meant to be a clever line. Time really does feel this way!
Perhaps you have your own version of this too. If so, you’ll know that time doesn’t always behave the way we think it does. It’s not the fixed, objective, measurable thing
most people think it is.
As it happens, this is what my new workshop Reclaim Your Evening is all about.
We won’t be “bending” time like Einstein.
But we will look at time from a completely different angle. That way, you can make easier decisions about when you’re done for the day and stop your work following you home when you do.
The workshop takes place live on Zoom at 8pm UK Time // 3pm EDT // Midday PDT on
Thursday 7th May.
That’s a little over 24 hours from now.
If you’d like to join the workshop, you’ll need to sign up before the workshop starts. If you can't make the workshop live and you'd like to get the recording,
you'll also need to sign up before the workshop starts. Once the clock chimes 8pm tomorrow evening, I'm taking the payment link down.
