The stork plopped Baby Grundy by Fort Grundy's drawbridge just over a year ago.
Since then, our nursery has filled up with an alarming number of books.
I have the habit of buying books faster
than I can read them. But Baby Grundy makes me look like an amateur.
Her shelves are stacked with classics like The Very Hungry Caterpillar, Goodnight Moon, The Gruffalo, Pop-Up Peekaboo Farm and the underrated page-turner, Poo in the Zoo (The Great Poo Mystery).
Recently though, Baby Grundy has been a bit…how shall I say this?... restless for more.
Counting apples and mooing along aren’t cutting the mustard like they used to.
I think it all began a few months ago while Lauren and I took Baby Grundy to Greece. That’s when I picked up a copy of Jim Roberts’ dystopian rainforest thriller The Monkey State and merrily turned the pages as Baby Grundy sat snugly on my man-belly.
Whenever I go to read Blood In The Green now (the third book in
Jim’s trilogy), Baby Grundy slams her own book shut with a no-nonsense thump and points at my copy of Blood In The Green with a look of such determination that it’s clear counting sheep is beneath her.
Maybe I shouldn’t be all that surprised.
I’m sure Baby Grundy was peeking at the pages as I read The Monkey State in Greece. Now she’s chomping at the bit to continue the story.
And who can blame her?
Pop-Up Peekaboo
Farm might have a cow behind a flap but Blood In The Green has monkeys overthrowing an authoritarian regime. Goodnight Moon might have everyone settling down to bed but Blood In The Green has rebellious monkeys waking up to what’s really going on. And Poo in the Zoo might have a suspicious pile in the corner but Blood In The Green has a much bigger mess which no-one can just bury under a heap of leaves.
If you’d like to join Baby Grundy in her jungle adventures, you’ll be pleased to hear that Jim is currently running a special offer on his trilogy.
Right now, you can grab a kindle copy of the first and second books (The Monkey State and
In Search Of Maya) for free. And the kindle copy of Blood In The Green is just 99p.
Here’s where to go to find all the goodies:

Don't dilly dally though. Jim's offer ends today.
To fulfilment,
Tom
